ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND SPRING GET-TOGETHER

Saturday 11th March 2017 – 10.00 to 16.30 (AGM commences at 13:30)


At the Hallmark Midland Hotel, Midland Road, Derby. DE1 2SQ.


Guests and Friends are also welcome to the get-together, but a donation of £2 per person would be appreciated.


This event is organised by the East Midland Branch of the Society with the support of the Management Committee


The Get-Together will be held in the Wyedale, Garden and Darleydale rooms of the hotel.

In addition there will be a “Bring and Buy” Stall and a Raffle.  Switzerland Travel Centre have confirmed that they will  attend.

Swiss Railway Films will be shown in the Edale Room during the day and Gordon Wiseman will give a talk at 12:00 entitled “Not the Gotthard”


There will be a dinner after the AGM on the Saturday evening commencing at 18:30, this is to allow time for attendees to catch the last train to London.


MENU


Starters:

Cream of Leek and Potato Soup with a Herb Scone.

or

Mushrooms with Cream and Tarragon Sauce served on a Toasted Ciabatte.


Mains:

Thyme and Garlic supreme of Chicken with Fondant Potatoes, French Beans, Honey Glazed Carrots and pan jus.

or

Pork Loin Steak, with Champ Mash, au poivre sauce, served with Sugar Snap Peas and Carrots.


Desserts:

Continental Bread and Butter Pudding with crème anglaise.

or

Vanilla Cheesecake with honey scented berries.


(A vegetarian alternative is available)


Coffee or Tea with Mints


There will be an After Dinner Quiz hosted by Rob Morrey.


The cost is £25.25 per person including service and VAT, but NOT wine.


Last date for booking is 1st March 2017 and numbers are limited to 40, so please book early.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION

A special bed & full English breakfast rate of £59.00 per person for a single room or £51.00 per person for a double or twin room per night is available. This reduces to £56 and £49.50 respectively if booked for both the Friday and Saturday nights.  In addition a table d'hôte dinner will be available on Friday 10th March at a cost of £20 per person. This must be booked with the Hotel a minimum of two weeks prior to the event and is also available to non-residents attending the Friday evening talk.

WHY NOT JOIN US FOR THE WHOLE WEEKEND?

The East Midlands Branch will be hosting their March meeting in Derby in the Edale Room of the Hallmark Hotel on the Friday evening commencing at 20:00.  The Speaker is Rob Morrey and the talk is entitled “Rain Drops on Roses"



Please note that the Hallmark Hotel now charges for car parking. Those attending any of the events over the weekend do not need to pay the charge but must register their vehicle registration numbers on the keypads situated at the hotel reception each time they enter the car park. Failure to do this, will result in a fine from “Parking Eye”. Those of you staying at the hotel, will still have to pay the £8.00 per night parking charge.
