A new attractive rail service is being created in the Basel border area. We at EuroBasilea AG are allowed to prepare and put this into operation together with our parent companies SBB and SNCF – and on behalf of our customers: From the end of 2030, rail customers will travel between northwestern Switzerland and Alsace more directly, faster and more frequently. Two cross-border S-Bahn lines are planned: the S2 Olten–Basel–Mulhouse and the S4 Laufen–Basel–St. Louis. SBB ordered 33 Flirt Evo France trains from Stadler in May 2024 to operate the two planned railway lines.
Now the design of the trains is known. SBB developed the design with the clients of the service – the authorities of the cantons of Basel-Landschaft, Basel-Stadt, Solothurn, the Federal Office of Transport, the Grand Est region and trireno. The new trains have a modern and attractive appearance that symbolises the dynamic connection across borders.
