A two part programme travelling with the world famous Glacier Express service along the Alpine backbone of Switzerland from the mountain resort of Zermatt to the international town of St. Moritz. These programmes were filmed during the 1990s when the route was run by three railway companies, the BVZ, the Furka-Oberlap Bahn (now amalgamated to form the Matterhorn-Gotthard Bahn) and the Rhaetian Railway. The journey begins at Zermatt with a trip on the Gornergrat railway before the descent to Brig. Attractions along the way to the monastery village of Disentis, include a visit to the Aletsch glacier, a diversion along the Schöllenen gorge, and a spectacular winter ride from Andermatt to the Oberalp pass. After Disentis we join an exciting river rafting expedition down the Rhine, wander around the old town of Chur and after reaching St. Moritz we enjoy winter sports action. An unforgettable journey through some of the most scenic regions of Switzerland. Filmed from train, helicopter, trackside and cab. Informative commentary and music. An English language leaflet accompanies the two DVDs, one PAL and one NTSC, which are multi language with a choice of English, German, French, Italian, and Japanese.
