TPC 2: The Aigle Lines
Swiss Rail Journeys
Available in: English
Running Time: 54 minutes
The town of Aigle in the Rhone valley of south-western Switzerland is home to three different private railway lines, all travelling into the surrounding mountains. We join an AL train for the steep climb to the popular resort of Leysin, where we stroll around the old village and visit the Berneuse viewing point with its stunning revolving restaurant. We cross the Rhone valley to enjoy winter fun at the Portes du Soleil region and take the AOMC train from Champery down to Monthey. At Monthey we change seasons to enjoy a sunny summer ride back to Aigle, where we visit the historic chateau with its museum of wine. Our last journey takes us high into the Vaudois alps as we board the ASD train for the journey to Le Sépay and on to Les Diablerets where we finish our exploration with a cable car ascent to Glacier 3000. Shot from train, air and trackside. Informative commentary and music.
